The thing about social security and medicare for that matter is that, IMO, we are looking at these programs all wrong (using the wrong equations) e.g. talking about raising the age limit or cutting back on their programs; or calling them ponzi schemes. What we should be seeing is that a country as rich as we are has a duty to protect the aged. Ponzi scheme shomzi scheme, the point is using the great wealth of this nation to protect the needy. One way or the other. Same with medicare. Doesn't work, then turn it into a single payer and make it work like all the other civilized nations do. We keep responding to RW nonsense instead of formulating our own philosophies and selling them to the public.
