Steve, yes I agree, there are many in this country who are deeply concerned about our federal spending and the deficit, and they are angry that Washington doesn't 'fix it' An old friend of mine in the Midwest, a well educated engineer, who during his career, never paid much attention to politics (although he leaned Republican), retired last year and he spent many hours trying to help the Romney campaign last Fall. Not because he liked Romney but because he thought Romney was the closest candidate to the 'Tea Party solution'. He focused on the debt stuff like a laser, pretty much ignoring everything else. But he got involved because his local county had a strong Tea Party organization, which provided him with lots of talking points and propaganda (including military spending is good, everything else is bad). That organization would not have existed without the Koch brothers and Dick Armey's special interest money, which launched it. It was not a grassroots phenomenon 'from the people' it was carefully launched, financed and marketed by a very small group. Now he watches what is happening and is very confused and concerned. He still thinks somehow that 'it is Obama's and Harry Reid's fault' that we can't get anything done. For him, the lies spread by the teapers 'death panels' etc, were irrelevant. He was just worried about the debt.
