Need advice on a computer purchase.

My daughter (HS Freshman) is after me to get a new desktop. The one we are using now is an older machine I brought home from the office a couple years ago, and she's complaining it runs too slow.

The new machine would likely be used mostly for web surfing, writing projects and photo imaging projects (we have Photoshop Elements for photos and Premire Elements for video). I'm toying with getting a GoPro camera or similar to catalogue my motorcycling exploits, so I may want to do some video editing in the future My daughter has a laptop but we don't want that machine to be used as a desktop replacement. Most of my web surfing these days is on iPad or using an Asus netbook. My next atop will likely be a MacBook Air.

The box will not be used for gaming.

I don't want to break the bank on this. I do not want Windows 8 - have no intention to go near that monstrosity.

This Lenovo over at TigerDirect seems like it would do the job with AMD processor, 8 GB of RAM and a 2 terabyte drive.
