I think we have to do something that can help in the real world -- those guns are out there to stay.

Not everyone wants a license to carry -- but some who work at schools probably do -- we should let them with the proper training and background checks. I don't want any shoot-outs -- but for all the publicity and the increased frequency of these events -- they still remain rare. They'd be rarer still if force was met with force.
Certainly at Newtown I would rather have had someone shooting back and fewer children dead.

There is a thing being passed around that is probably wrong -- re a foiled attempt -- but the guns are there -- making gun-free zones invites more the same. I do believe the media will purposefully black out any take-downs of nuts because it doesn't fit their paradigm.

The second thing that needs to be done is addressing the disaffection of young people and the violence being peddled to them. Individually, we cannot ignore folks who are going the loner route. This is a parental, community and law enforcement issue.
