<addressing the disaffection of young people and the violence being peddled to them> The private ownership of military weapons is a large part of the violence being peddled to young people -- although obviously it is not the only sign of cultural rot. We show young people that violence is a valid form of self-expression. Look at the mass murders -- look at them. They are people expressing themselves with military weapons. It is Youtube for the well armed lunatic. It is a blog for the person who has lost all sense of reality and humanity. We are no longer talking about 'criminals with guns'. We are talking about a nation of people who are increasingly suffering from severe mental problems that they cannot solve -- so they take an assault weapon and head off to find as many people to kill as they can kill before they kill themselves.

Meeting force with force won't have an impact on violent self-expression -- the preferred version is to make mass murder your suicide note. No need to put your anger and despair and confusion into words -- just turn as many people as possible into meat targets then save one bullet for yourself. The mass murder of people who are utterly innocent is no accident -- it is the new modus operandi of mass murder. Targeting children is a new chapter in an increasingly familiar story.

Get used to mass murder or ban these weapons while getting to the roots of mental illness and a lost generation. It is not enough to stop selling assault weapons -- ownership of them must be criminalized.
