Rich countries losing their cachet. Economic and debt crisis, government negotiation default avoidance i sending a message to the rest of the world.

The globalization of media made easy for them to increase their visibility. Having monopoly of English language a dominating the media they capitalized on this cachet.

The richer countries not able to save their poorer neighbors sounds an alert. And raises the question: if they cannot save their neighbors, how can they have anything of value for us?

These countries earn a lot of money, doing consultancies to developing countries because they were viewed as countries that knew how to do things. I believe state capitalism -the distributive type, that penalizes middle classes and benefit the poorer class- will be hard to fight by the no longer successful private capitalism.

It is an end of an era. Economic stagnation. The bad economic new in political uncertainties, lack of leadership, were the stuff of poor countries. These countries were admired. People dreamed about to emigrate to them.

With the TV broadcasting poorer populations in dire straits, these countries will start losing people instead of gaining them.

Lack of opportunity for the youth will make culture exportation be another victim. People bought Levis Jeans, Music, drinks and movie tickets because they wanted to emulate populations of these countries. Soon, as they were no longer seen as cool and successful, culture exports will lose business.
