No, I just think that the 30 years since the "Reagan Revolution" has moved the center much farther to the right in this country. It actually probably predates that, since in the 1930's, Americans were really concerned about our country GOING communist, which FDR partially relieved with his socialistic reforms, and was later attacked by the Joe McCarthy's and their ilk in the '50's, the attacks on "liberals" during the Reagan years and since. The power brokers in this country want a quiescent people, but not an empowered people - BOTH parties.
