All of this is another way of saying that, with the Democrats’ BS about raising taxes on the rich out of the way, we can have a rational debate about the country’s fiscal future. And that is a debate the GOP can win, as most voters continue to believe that it is better to cut spending than to raise taxes on them.”

The trouble with that idealistic argument is the assumption that the mainstream media are going to report honestly about all of this -- and, if they don't, the public will be vigilant and activist enough to ferret out the truth about why their country is dying. Neither one is likely to happen.

Just take the two most recent impeachable offenses this president and/or his appointees have skated on -- Fast and Furious and Benghazi (not yet 'skated', but pretty close so far). The mainstream media have mentioned both in passing, but as far as they are concerned both issues are dropped.

By the way, as regards Benghazi, the administration even has allies on Fox. I was listening to Shepard Smith (whom I have never liked to begin with) present a wrap-up of 2012 yesterday afternoon. Part of his summary of the year involved Benghazi, about which he said, pretty verbatim, 'After the deaths of the ambassador and the other three victims, some people accused the administration of lying to the public when they attributed the violence to an anti-Muslim video. But there was no evidence of purposeful deception.' (Needless to say, our television was turned off after that comment, along with a vow to avoid Shepard Smith like the plague from now on.)

This fiscal cliff was purposefully designed to portray the few courageous republicans left in D.C. as obstructionists (which will succeed, thanks to the complicit media), after which the administration will get pretty much all that it wants in terms of tax increases and power grabs.

Add to that the fact that this president is premeditatedly (1) weakening our defenses by singlehandedly decreasing our nuclear capabilities, in a time when both Iran and North Korea are ramping theirs up, (2) increasing our dependence on foreign energy sources, despite the fact that we have vast untapped energy sources right here at home, (3) exponentially increasing the national deficit/debt while refusing to trim any of the myriad of wasteful spending programs, and (4) placing record-setting numbers of Americans on the public dole, and any thinking American recognizes the portrait of an American president intentionally destroying the most moral and prosperous civilization in the history of mankind.

And the average American (few if any of whom post here on this forum) goes about his/her day as if all of this is a minor bump in the road -- a bump that their charismatic president will solve, if only those pesky republicans would get out of his way.

I am becoming increasingly grateful that there will someday be a Final Judgment Day, and that the evil that is masquerading as leadership in our nation's capital will someday pay an awful price for their crimes. At the same time, I believe most of us here on this forum are pained beyond description that, in the interim, our beloved republic, whose noble history was once a source of indescribable pride and gratitude for all that was sacrificed in our behalf, is being premeditatedly dismantled, and our safety and sovereignty is being bartered away, by leaders who place their own personal greed and power above our Founders' proud and hard-won legacy, and the sacrifices in the name of liberty that have been made by millions of genuine Americans in the 200+ years since America's noble blueprint was drawn.

The Lord knows the courageous hearts of those who laid the blueprint, and those who sacrificed to see it come to pass. He also knows the black hearts of those who hold that blueprint, and those sacrifices, in contempt. We need to hold onto that knowledge as a lifeline, while also doing all that we can to turn this ship around before it runs aground for good.
