They were intimidating even before.. Most people who go there are looking to get visa.. Tourist or they want to immigrate or what ever and it seems people on the other side, want to make sure you don't get there IF they suspect you just want a one-way ticket.. And that is always their starting point.. So their demeanor is not exactly friendly.. Like gate keeper to some buried treasure they suspect you want to plunder.. Periodically they do open the gate and make it easier because of policy change or what ever but not that often..
