Krugman utterly ignored the potential trauma in financial markets and the impact that has on consumer confidence. That's a by-product of living in the ivory tower and not getting out around the country like Obama did campaigning and afterward. As Clint rightly said, a man has to know his limitations. But I can see over and over why Krugman elected to not be an actual policymaker or practitioner. He would have had some major screwups to get out of due to his hubris at times. I saw the type in government service more than a few times.
