I don't think that's hard to answer at all. Krugman, in this particular instance, is like a lot of folk on the left. Their view is that Obama could have done at least two things here that he didn't do. The first is that he could have stepped back from McConnell's request for Biden, let the fiscal cliff happen, then ask for a tax cut for income under $250k along with other elements of that package. The second he could have done was to bargain tougher.

It's obviously had to know whether Krugman is right or not. One would have had to know all that Obama and the other major players knew. But, from this distance, it looks to me as if the argument is a strong one.

I'm a bit surprised that you get so worked up about it. These are just interesting arguments to read and discuss.
