Guns save lives and I know of crimes averted because the potential victim was armed myself.

I'll mention my first wife. Years before we met, she was driving at night to visit her sister in another state. Stopping at a gas station / convenience store she saw a guy staring at her. After she left, the guy showed up behind her, drove beside her motioning for her to pull over. He pulled ahead and slowed down so she passed him. He sped up and drove beside her not letting her return to the right lane. She had a small handgun, turned on her inside car light and pointed at the guy driving beside her, mouthing 'You want this, you want this?' He hit his brakes and she drove on and never saw him again.

What would have happened?
