Gary, OFF TOPIC: I ended up using a memory cache of 2K and I think a disk cache of 4K (I say "I think" because I'm not at the same machine now).

It was counterintuitive to me too but if you read Bob ???'s post I was responding to (from Nov. 25) he explains it in a way that makes sense. I'm not sure what my memory cache was under Explorer but my disk size was huge -- 128MB because I thought that made sense.

Bob's basic argument was too much time is spent searching the disk for available pages. Still doesn't seem quite right since it seems the disk directory of available pages would get cached in memory (?). However, if the memory cache is thrashing, guess that argument goes down the tubes.

I'll probably continue to play with the sizes to find my "sweet spot".
