Robert, Intel is setting standards in an effort to control the NC and sub-NC marketplace. But even if Intel develops a multipurpose chipset with video, audio, etc. they can't compete pricewise. Between CYRX's GX and GXi processors and STM's "world PC", Intel will have a uphill fight on their hands.

IMHO, unless Intel can get a patent on multicolored bunny suits and make them part of the spec, they won't be able to stop vendors from using alternative CPUs.
