Actually, it seems QDEK did ok with the Global Chat sale.

Santa Monica, Calif. -- September 6, 1995 -- Quarterdeck Corporation (Nasdaq:QDEK) announced today that it has agreed to acquire the intellectual property assets of privately held Prospero Systems Research, Inc. of San Francisco, for shares of Quarterdeck common stock approximating $3 million. The acquisition will be accounted for as an asset purchase, and will result in a one-time non-cash charge against earnings for acquired in-process research and development. Prospero recently introduced its first two products, Global Stage and Global Chat, the first commercial Internet chat server and client to introduce live interaction and multimedia to the Internet's World Wide Web.
