Arun, as you know, rape, murder and choosing to make babies are quite different activities. Bystanders will leave voluntary participants in making babies in privacy, even if it's difficult to do do. Murderers and rapists are likely to find bystanders are not so observant of privacy. <Yet they find the privacy to make millions of babies... >

For example, the mile-high club has no doubt produced many more babies than mid-air rapist/murderers have succeeded in their crimes. In fact, I have never heard of a mid-air rape being successfully conducted. Nor murder other than in terrorist-suicidal attacks. People will look away from voluntary activities [normally].

Public witnesses are quite a disincentive to many crimes. Criminals seek darkness and privacy.

The certainty of being caught and the certainty and magnitude of punishment are the main disincentives to crime, other than the even better method of raising children so that they do not want to commit crimes because it's not part of their psychological framework to harm others.
