Doubtful.

I'm negative on Apple on this issue.
May I ask why?

True, a smartwatch does not seem like a "big ticket" item but neither did the iPod.

My position to the affirmative. Apple is into combining software and hardware a do it better than anyone else. They are also very good at putting a lot into a small space. Also, I think they have an idea of how they can leverage the whole iCloud/Apple family experience.

Most people with iPods attach them to their body somehow to work out or whatever. Apple has already experienced the delight folks had that an iPod could be a watch (albeit a bit odd one). An Apple smartwatch could:

1) hold your music
2) allow you to answer your iPhone via bluetooth
3) let you know when you have a text, etc.
4) have some functionality via Siri
5) act as a payment device

Most importantly, though, the watch could bring people into the Apple Family and act to keep them there.
