At one time, between WWI and WWII iirc, the area depicted
as Occupied Palestine and Jordan, was actually 'occupied'
by the British. In my youth some maps called the area 'Trans-Jordan'.

The English probably still believe that they occupy Palestine.
The English must have their 'Empire'. LOL
