Every first year anthropology student knows cooperation is what made the human species so successful.

As Eldridge Cleaver said: "competition is the law of the jungle. Cooperation is the law of civilization."

But beyond that basic humanity is the foundation of civilization. Until the constitution of the US we were essentially a barbaric people ruled by kings, dictators and tribal chiefs and 25% of all people died in war, the rest suffered in abject poverty.

Democracy, civil rights, public schools, gender equality and social programs protecting the young, old and infirm are the greatest advancements of humans.

The New Deal was one of the greatest advancements in civilized behavior in this country.

Democracy, universal health care, and affordable education, was one of the greatest advancements in the world.

<<nonsense, personal responsibility and liberty are what define a society and a people.
