15 brands that disappeared in 2012

Hostess – The maker of Twinkies announced in November that it will close because of an ongoing labor dispute and softening sales.

New Jersey Nets – The team moved a short distance to Brooklyn in 2012, making Nets fans buy all-new gear if they want to be up to date.

Liz Claiborne Inc. – The holding company was renamed early this year to Fifth & Pacific. (old Liz Claiborne logo from Fifth & Pacific)

Kodak – The brand that was once the king of the point-and-shoot camera space announced in 2012 that it would stop making digital cameras.

SmartMoney magazine – The magazine, owned by Dow Jones, was launched in 1992. The last paper edition was printed in August.

38 Studios – An entertainment and IP company that was founded by Major League Baseball pitcher Curt Schilling launched in 2006 and folded in 2012 after failing to make payroll.

Planet Green – The cable channel focused on green living began in 2008, but was refocused and later renamed to Destination America in 2012.
