Most of the country including the NE held slaves until the late 1700's.....then as they became more civilized slavery was abolished. Some states didn't become "civilized" until after 1865... I don't know where you got the 3/4 figure but I sincerely believe that if an objective election were held today, more than 50% would vote for segregation...
