Will some or all of the research agencies that keep smartphone scores (ABI, Canalys, Gartner IDC, Strategy Analytics, et al) track full touch Ashas as a smartphone platform? I dunno. Not sure I care provided they can compete effectively and profitably with other low end to mid-tier full touch smartphones. There is no universally accepted definition of a smartphone so if Nokia wants to call full touch Ashas 'smartphones', or market them as 'smartphones' which they started doing in Q3 -- let them have at it. Agreed. For what it's worth, here's a Forbes article published today proclaiming that Nokia's smartphone sales have nearly returned to the pre-"burning platform" levels, with the caveat that Asha Full Touch be considered smartphones. An excerpt pertinent to our discussion: "Whether these should be counted as smartphones will be hotly debated, especially if they are bringing Nokia’s smartphone sales numbers back up to previous levels. But they are marketed as smartphones, if the public buying them consider them smartphones, if they do all the things people expect a smartphone to do… then Asha is a smartphone range." forbes.com
