This is my best effort as I understand it. But give Dan Mahoney a call. He's well worth the time. >>* My cable provider gives me (for free) a set-top box that runs ACTV software.<< I don't know if the box is provided free, but I am almost certain that it is part of the subscription arrangement and is essentially a "given" in the contract. >> * I "subscribe" to a service provided by ACTV.<< You subscribe to your cable service provider. >>* The subscription money goes to ACTV, who in turn gives some of it to the cable company for providing the pipe.<< Visa versa: the subscription $ is collected by the cable provider and is divided between the CP and ACTV. >>MTV must spend money to make their content interactive. Who gets that money? I undertand MTV is betting on the come (increased ad revenue, etc.).<< Multiple camera angles and imput are all part of the existing programming right now. The program director makes the decisions for us now; that's how we see what we see. With IATV the viewer would have choices. As to the video production, I would expect that the increased production costs (if any) for interactivity would be carried just as they are now. >>Do I have it right?<< I hope I have it right!
