The Chairman of Huawei, Yu Chengdong, has once again confirmed on Weibo that the company will be bringing two handsets to Mobile World Congress 2013, which is early February in Barcelona.

He said:

The CES show, we released most of three global smartphone products, are: maximum screen Mate, the most powerful D2 and the best value the WP8 mobile phone W1 2 month Barcelona MWC Mobile World Congress will also release two most of the world’s smartphone products. Nobody can remember, can only remember the first one, we want the consumer to see, most of the world first from Huawei! Keep making progress, beyond!

Current speculation is that one of these handsets will be a new but long rumoured Windows Phone 8 handset, the Ascend W2, which will according the rumour be the thinnest Windows Phone on its release, measuring only 7.7 mm thick.

Despite this the device will still be well specced and priced, with a 4.5 inch HD screen, super-sensitive touch, 8 megapixel camera and the usual dual-core processor, 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage, and massive 2800 mAh battery capacity, all for only 3200 Yuan ($515).

The handset is apparently aimed at competing directly with the Nokia Lumia 920, but with a much more attractive price.

A 6.1 inch Windows Phone is also rumoured, but if shown will likely be released a lot later.
