What do you think is one of the leading attributes of a police state?

A government that squashes the rights of the individual and thinks everything they do is for the greater good of society. Generally speaking socialists and democrats

First of all, most police states have had their origins in conservatism; not liberalism. Secondly, restricting guns is hardly a harbinger of a police state which is what one_less and I were discussing.. Installing arm guards in every public venue is. Much like installing traffic lights at busy intersections.....restricting guns has become necessary due to the pervasive number of guns in this country and the irresponsibility on the part of some owners and the danger they pose to the broader society.
