"So then, let's go back to the original discussion. Are you advocating armed guards for schools since now you are not suggesting that teachers should carry at school?"
Absolutely not, I am completely against deploying armed guards across the country, whether at schools, theaters, transportation centers, malls or any other general gathering place. I don't like seeing armed guards anywhere except in a declared emergency or where immanent threat is present. A private citizen carrying a gun does not make one an armed guard, that requires an entirely different level of establishment. We both know the difference. I have repeatedly stated, I only advocate for people to have a choice and see no reason for any objection to it other than silly partisan bandwagoning. I don't know why you keep trying to push some argument that doesn't exist, at least not with me.
We have security people at the local middle school near here who require visitors to check in and out with them, and the police have a manned office inside the High School. The local community made the decision to establish these systems, so I am fine with it being their choice. I would, however, object to the Federal government forcing that sort of thing on any community. In most communities the possibility of gun violence is so remote that the presence of armed guards would not be respected and may even represent the negative aspects of oppressive government intrusion. On the other hand, knowing there are trusted adults who are not likely to just stand by during a violent attack is a deterent and of course a resource to intervene and stop a violent attack. Why do you object to that? |
