FYI - For what it's worth, Autodesk is probably the 2nd major CAD/CAM software developer to contribute to 3D printing . . . although since it's for human cells, granted their work is unique. However, the company that has done A LOT in 3D printing is Dassault Systemes (DASTY).
Dassault provides 3D & product lifecycle management solutions worldwide. The company offers SolidWorks software that provides 3D solutions for product design, analysis, and data management; SIMULIA that delivers realistic simulation solutions for finite element analysis, multiphysics, optimization, and simulation lifecycle management; DELMIA that allows manufacturers to virtually define, plan, create, monitor, and control production processes.
Recent Annual Revenues:
* Autodesk --> $2.30-billion
* Dassault --> $2.56-billion
Neither DASTY or ADSK is a very pure play in 3D or 3D bio-printing. But because Dassault Systemses has been developing 3D printing software for several years and their efforts are beginning to pay off.
The bottomline is the 3D business for both of these companies is very tiny for the foreseeable future. |
