One thing I've learned in this ever so lucky life of mine - and it was not all a dream come true thus far - people who insist their kids learn to play musical instruments of any kind thrive, in all environments. So do their kids.

Just watched the immigrant father like mine, walk his daughter home, carrying her violin case, his arm around her. The love present in that scene is impossible to describe. Awesome. :-)))
