Because it should not be necessary in an advanced culture.

Are you one of those people that leaves their doors unlocked to show the world you trust them?

Kids are precious I want them protected and since we can't find all the crazy people with or without guns and lock them up - I want a last line of defense in place to try. A good 30% of schools already have some form of protection - my local high school has an armed policeman sits in his car all day during school hours. Keeps all types of loonies away, drug dealers etc. Other cities with more money or resources (volunteers) can do whatever they choose - but having faith in criminals/crazies is not a good plan.

Look........I understand the need for hunters to have guns. I understand the need to have hunters in every culture. However, the need to have guns has become obsessive and extreme in this country. For people to hear what you are saying you make it sound like you live in the barrio or the ghetto when instead you live in one of the safest places in the country.

Paranoia can be unhealthy. I have lived both in the ghetto and the barrio for years, never owned a gun and never had a problem.
