in 15 years of trading im not aware of any other market, commodity etc that has more shakeout attempts than GOLD/miners. i suppose it could be because those that love it are ornery and used to the bullshit and not shaken out easily so it must be done over and over to shake enough free before a nice move up can occur. someday the GDX will hit my first target of 49.
