It was a guerrilla war. Really no winners or losers until one side gives up.

The stingers were certainly a major psychological blow to the Soviets. After all, they had spent decades and bent their whole economy to put together a force that could conquer Europe. Only to find out that their invincible weapons, weren't. The Hind is a formidable flying machine. But it depends on its armor, speed and armaments. If it has to skulk around the battlefield because it is a big, flying target, well...

Suddenly they were faced with the fact they had to go back to the drawing board and start over.

Good thing Jimmy Carter pushed the development of smart weapons. It helped bring down the Soviets.
