I believe it was about money, the Newton and other school administrations decided money for security was put to better use in their own pockets.

We already pay ridiculous property taxes for schools, your point doesn't apply to schools. Instead of saying you need to raise taxes to provide security that use to exist, how about call for an audit and see who decided 700 children could protect themselves and removed security and wasted the money somewhere else?
