Well, I think that, too -- but a "very long way" -- as you should know, can be traversed in a very short period of time. It is mostly a problem of developing the right materials, and that work is underway and will be completed within a matter of a few years.

Of course, this isn't something you're going to do on today's RepRap, but it would be totally stupid to base a long-term gun control policy on the idea that 3d printing of weapons isn't going to be a substantial contributor to weapons availability. Even you, in your normal head-up-your-ass mode, should realize this.
