Yes, additive manufacturing can be done in metals. But, do you have any idea of the laser power required to sinter metals suitable for making a gun? Do you have any idea of what those lasers cost? Putting class 4 lasers, especially of that power rating, in the hands of everyone is not something I relish. The other technologies for working in metal, printing a wax mold and doing lost wax casting and using a polymer with metal powder and then burning off the powder, loosely sintering it and infusing it with bronze, aren't strong enough.
