He's outlawing a few types of guns. There's a huge difference between that and outlawing all guns. Guns classified as "assault weapons," (originally the industry's nomenclature, not the government's), make up just a few percent of guns owned in the U.S., right? And no, it's not a slippery slope. I wish it were, but it's not.

No. Because it's not. It's only lost population for one decade in the history of the U.S., the 1970s.

Its population growth is pretty average. Which is pretty good given that most of the states near the bottom in terms of growth are among the oldest in the Union... population has been expanding south and west as long as we've been acquiring more territory in the south and west, particularly as transportation and climate control (in buildings) have advanced. New York's population grew a lot until we tightened immigration laws from Europe and Ellis Island became defunct.
