Complicated? No, I didn't find it complicated. The 'if you are home and if you can get to it in time' part that is worrisome. Not to mention the unspoken ifs like 'if you can fire before the invader' which might be the biggest if of all. And it doesn't address the issue that if you are not home, the criminal can funnel even more guns into the hands of other criminals.

To a rational person, this makes it difficult to justify unrestricted gun ownership if self-defense or protecting your home is a major reason to allow it. Because there are significant costs to society here. The original reason for the second amendment was the FF had the idea that militias could substitute for a standing army. Unfortunately that proved to be a failure. If protection from home invasion is an iffy proposition and it carries the risk of putting more guns into the hands of criminals, then that is concerning. And probably not worth the cost.

Self-protection is also iffy. People who carry are 4 to 5 times more likely to be homicide victims. Which makes sense, they are more likely to go into situations that they otherwise would avoid because they feel 'safe'. And likely puts another gun in the hands of criminals. So that is problematic.

So we are pretty much left with hunting and target shooting. Neither of which requires semi-automatics. In fact, an argument can be made that neither requires bolt action. Single shot should suffice.

Now from your posts it is pretty clear you are not a rational person. So this should show you what you are up against.
