I agree. the Republican party needs to at least be made irrelevant. There is nothing they have worth salvaging. The Dems need 10/15 years of unimpeded power to fix all the damage the RW did.

Quite simply, the Republican party has nothing to contribute to the social discourse and the problems facing us and the world are huge.

I had a long talk with my scientist son in law tonight and was lamenting about the lack of response to Global Warming and he surprised me by saying: "there are many problems I worry about just as much like the worldwide slaughter of women and children".

I liked his response. We have to quit focusing on Lance Armstrong and start focusing on the serious problems like income inequality and the travails of the poor.

1. Why Obama Should Seek To Destroy the Republican Party
By John Dickerson | January 18, 2013

I would love to see Obama step down this path. Certainly, the Obama of his first term would not do so. Perhaps, there are faint signs he might do some or all of this in his second term. Very hard to tell. At least it's something to watch for.
