>From the 10-q, Nov. 2012, p.15, I note the following. It indicates multiple MRI systems have been sold. I can only recall one other, and that was installed in Switzerland. Can anyone recall when any other MRI systems were sold and where?< (fwco)
As of a year ago, there were five BSD-2000/3D/MR systems installed. See the last paragraph of the following link. I believe the product has been under continual development, for at least the imaging and operating software. I’ve heard that a major problem they overcame was electrical interference between the BSD-2000/3D/MR and the MRI machine. As you may remember, BSD M has worked cooperatively with both Siemens and GE, the two main MRI machine mfrs.

SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BSD Medical Corporation (NASDAQ:BSDM) (Company or BSD) (www.bsdmedical.com), a leading provider of medical systems that utilize heat therapy to treat cancer, today announced the purchase, installation and acceptance of a BSD-2000/3D/MR Hyperthermia System (BSD-2000/3D/MR) by Tuebingen University Medical School (Tuebingen UMS) in Germany. This BSD-2000/3D/MR system was purchased in June 2011 by BSD’s European distributor, Dr. Sennewald Medizintechnik GmbH, Munich, Germany, and subsequently sold to Tuebingen UMS.
The BSD-2000/3D/MR is an integration of BSD’s advanced regional hyperthermia system with Magnetic Resonance (MR) imaging. Tuebingen UMS, an international leader in oncology and immunology, operates the Southwest German Tumor Center - Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC Tuebingen), which is certified by the German Cancer Society. CCC Tuebingen is a leading Comprehensive Cancer Center and has received a prestigious award of excellence from the German Cancer Aid Foundation. In November 2010 CCC Tuebingen was elected by a panel of international experts to membership in the German Consortium for Translational Cancer Research, which is sponsored by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research.
For many years, Tuebingen UMS has utilized a BSD-2000/3D Hyperthermia System as part of an extensive hyperthermia cancer treatment program for superficial and deep seated tumors, and it will utilize the BSD-2000/3D/MR for the treatment of pelvic and abdominal tumors, thus adding additional hyperthermia treatment capacity. The Chairman of Tuebingen University Medical School and Head of the Department of Radiation Oncology, Professor Michael Bamberg MD, stated, "The addition of the BSD-2000/3D/MR Hyperthermia System will position our facility as an international center of excellence for hyperthermia. It will be used for a wide range of indications, including cancers of the rectum, cervix, bladder, and pancreas; soft tissue sarcomas; as well as pediatric malignancies. Our new system will be equipped with an innovative array of MR compatible applicators: the Sigma-Eye MR applicator for the treatment of adults, the Sigma-40 MR applicator for the treatment of small adults and older children, and the Sigma-30 MR applicator for the treatment of younger children down to the age of 3."
The BSD-2000/3D/MR is an integration of the world’s most sophisticated hyperthermia therapy system with magnetic resonance imaging. It introduces a revolutionary new use of magnetic resonance imaging, expanding MRI utilization from its traditional role in diagnostic imaging to real-time imaging and monitoring of cancer treatments. The magnetic resonance images are color graded to show temperature changes in the treatment area during hyperthermia therapy. The BSD-2000/3D/MR System was developed in a collaborative effort with Siemens Healthcare AG, Erlangen, Germany. The Tuebingen UMS system is the fifth BSD-2000 System with integrated MRI capability that has been purchased by prestigious cancer treatment facilities in Germany. BSD-2000/3D/MR Systems have also been installed at the Munich Grosshadern UMS, Berlin Charité UMS, Erlangen UMS, and Duesseldorf UMS |
