Adam Lanza's mom was preparing to commit him for psych evaluation. Based on the information available, it is believed he had Aspergers Syndrom and was suffering from emotional problems (distress over not having normal feelings, as evidenced by the burning himself reports; and over dependence on mom). He was clearly enmeshed psychologically with his mother and had an extreme fear of her abandonment. Is 'impaired' a politically incorrect term because of its clinical applications? He was not a stable person by anyone's account. Most people can see that it was a huge mistake for his mother to include him in her passion for guns. This episode should not have been the vehicle for proposing changes in gun regulation, it should be viewed only as a tragic anomaly. It is too strange.
