"Flash suppressors" aren't a big deal in the US (or anywhere else as far as I can see, except they're a "military feature" that contributes to "assault rifle" status). It's silencers that one would need ATF permission to obtain. So my conclusion is that when the guy was talking about going hunting with a "suppressor" he really meant with a "silencer" which is commonly called a "sound suppressor" or "suppressor". If he'd meant a flash suppressor, he'd have written "flash suppressor", or "flash guard", or "flash eliminator", etc. -- Carl P.S. Since flash suppressors are only useful when firing at night, I wonder what states allow firearms to be fired at night in the open. I'm aware that firing a weapon in the dark is illegal in at least some places. I guess they'd still be useful when hunting at dusk or dawn.
