Wow did not realize this. But then the middle of the article talks of the struggles of many long time locals struggling to continue living in such a high cost area.

Trust me, I have been reading similar articles since the late 80s when I moved to CA. Tech people love living in the Bay area. So they outsource the manufacturing jobs and keep the administrative/research jobs in the Bay area.

And yes, some people are forced to leave because of the cost of living. Many of them move to southern OR where the climate is somewhat similar.
