The Trials, Tribulations and Triumphs of First-Time Smartphone Buyers

Interesting.

Emily needed the bike function of Googlemaps. San Fran is a big bike city, Critical Mass started there, but not an easy bike city, its all hills. Obviously doesn't understand the economics of a 2 year plan on a $99 phone.

Elmer understands economics. Probably the kid of immigrants who know the value of a buck. Paid $730 will save over 2 years with a cheaper plan obviously.

Maxine seems to have good reasons to buy a Galaxy S II, one bad reason being peer pressure. But heck I would have waited for the S III myself. Another $100 amoratized over 2 years? nothing.

Ann Spencer, the most geeky, actually looked at Android and Apple phones side by side then bought an iPhone 5.

I like her comment:

Spencer: I’m looking at apps. I think Microsoft is doing something different this year and doing something dramatically different next year. I really don’t want to get near a Windows Phone; I would rather not be a test case for what they are developing.
