Nice! Why not just get the lens?
I already have the lens. Had it since before digital Canon EOS came out. Dream come true. But, on the rented 1D Mark IV it really shone, like never before, don't ask me why!
Canon changed something... in the battery or charger, and didn't tell anyone, including themselves.
Wow, that does sound like a nightmare. The 1D line camera batteries have been the same - as have been the chargers - for three generations, no problems. Different batteries altogether, and chargers though, from your type.

Vexing!
They pretty much hate me at that camera store <g>.
Hey, tell them to get batteries and chargers that work! ;-)
