If you had my experience you might think otherwise.

One of my first jobs was working for JM. When our contract expired (we were asking for 8% over 3 years, they wanted to give 5.%), we went on strike and picketed. Reagan was governor at the time and they gave him a call and he sent 300 cops from LA up the next day....about a week into the strike. The company was violating the State labor law at the time by bussing in scabs. the picketing blocked the road. The 300 cops waded in with clubs and beat the strikers senseless. Strike over. Of course JM was lying prior to the strike insisting asbestos was not used at the plant, etc. despite the fact I worked with it everyday and was never told a thing about it.

JM eventually used the BK laws to absolve themselves of damages from lying about asbestos use, and we know what Reagan did to the ATC union.

grusum is absolutely dead wrong stating unions have never improved workers lives. There's a reason why the door says "Human resources". Labor is considered on the same level as raw materials.
