Are Obama's tax rates so punitive?

It looks like they are less than Clinton's and the economy wasn't doing so bad under Clinton was it?

I think the best thing would have been to just go OFF the fiscal cliff and go back to the Clinton tax rates.

The economy would have taken a hit but then come back more strongly in the long run.
