Exactly this:
I think the main device we'll all use is the biggest one we'll carry around with us and put up to our ear.
Where that ends up I'm not sure. I thought 5-5.5", but 6" ain't much worse. Pockets and the goofy factor when using it as a phone are issues. But when I look at HS pictures of myself in bell bottoms, I realize the perception of goofy can change.
Its really a competition for a single device you can always have with you, resulting in being able to ditch the other devices. Why be forced to change devices all the times. Of course, from the hardware manufacturers POV, it would be nice if they could sell you as many different form factors as possible, and I think that is what Apple would like to do with via the gap in the product line. They would like tablets and smartphones to stay two distinct categories, and Intel even more so. Samsung will do whatever for sales, so they are going to win this, unless the others wake up to reality. Which I expect, but as usually happens when management has to do a 180, they wait until it is painfully obvious. |
