Huawei Ascend W1 reviewed

WPDang have posted a review of the Huawei Ascend W1, which comes equipped with an S4 MSM8230 dual-core 1.2 GHz processor with Adreno 305 GPU, 512MB memory, WVGA IPS laminated screen, 4GB storage with MicroSD expansion storage, 5-megapixel rear camera with flash, and a front-facing camera, all in an 10.5 mm thick package with a 2000 mAh battery for 1599 Yuan. The device comes with Portico pre-installed.

WPDang notes the screen has good viewing angles and low reflectance due to the lamination.

The microSD card is below the battery, making it non-hot swappable. Only1.6 GB of the 4 GB storage is available, with most of this used up if one downloads off-line Nokia Maps. An 8 GB version with NFC may be on the way.

The device supports Twitter, Facebook, Sina integration. It also features the ability to pull contacts from another phone via Bluetooth, which worked on Android, iOS and Symbian handsets.

The camera takes reasonably day-light images, but low-light images are noisy as expected.

WPDang notes Huawei is just dipping their toes into the Windows Phone market, producing only 500,000 handsets, which will be sold in China, India and Russia. They also note Huawei’s CEO Mr. Yu Chengdong has confirmed a bigger-screened Windows Phone is coming in H2 2013.
