I like the idea of being able to see old aliases.

However, years ago I felt compelled to change from my true name to an alias after one clown PMd me and threatened to call my work to tell my boss that I was spending too much time posting on SI. This person didn't like people challenging his/her posts and posting opposing views. Naturally, this person was posting under an alias.

Whether or not it was a bluff, I don't know and I couldn't believe how childish this behavior was. However, it got me thinking and I decided that discretion was best.

As I was #2 in a company of 60 or so employees, the owner would have laughed at anyone trying to besmirch me. I was often spending 70 hours a week there and was on call 24/7/365 for roughly 18 years. At the same time, the concept of a cyber stalker wasn't appealing, to say the least.
