Trouble is, if rates go up the deficit explodes and we're into the end game. I doubt that Benny and da boyz want that ...

Here's a thought that just occurred to me, though, no idea if it makes the least bit of sense: with all this kicking the can down the road, could they be literally buying time, waiting for some/most of those $700T of derivatives to expire unexploded?
