Well Investor Clouseau, the AGM has come and gone, and the following has transpired:
  1. The stock has basically gone nowhere since mid December 2. Evans got his approval to dilute to the tune of 35 million more shares of common. 3. Evans has indicated that he is having second thoughts about selling EF, presumably because of strong IP's in the latest wells. 4. Reserves have basically gone nowhere in the past 6 months.
I spoke with IR yesterday & they told me that it is a buyers market for ground in the EF. The bids they received were all lowball offers, which indicates to me that that is why GE is having second thoughts about selling.
At one time, I too was a very strong proponent of Evans based upon his track record. I am having grave second thoughts based upon the company's acquisitions & stock dilution over the past 2 years, the rapid change in company direction (more oily, then more gassy, now more oily), the debt structure, and the latest approval for 35 million common shares. Additionally, the shorts seem to be making a career move betting against this company, and so far they have been right.
Were you around for Magnum Hunter 1? Was the road to the sale to Cimerex as potholed as this one? |
